Harris Wins Shot Put, Holub Sets 3000m Record at FasTrak

HOUSTON, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's track and field team competed in the FasTrak Athletix Indoor Collegiate Challenge Saturday at Yeoman Fieldhouse at the University of Houston.

Freshman Wesley Holub (Wallis/Brazos) broke the program record for the 3000m run, finishing tenth overall and fourth amongst NCAA Division-III runners with a time of 9:02.79. The 3000m run record was previously held by Caleb Calderon at 9:09.43 set in 2019.

Dalon Harris (Garland/Lakeview Centennial) won the indoor shot put in a field filled with competitors from the NCAA Division-I to Division-III levels with a personal best throw of 15.89m (52'1.75").

Riley Denman (Pearland/Pearland) and Chase Cook (Austin/McNeil) finished fifth and sixth respectively - second and third amongst Division-III throwers - in the weight throw with marks of 14.86m (48'9") and 14.19m (46'6.75").

Bryce Powell-Chimene (Dayton/Dayton) finished seventh in the 400m dash with a time of 49.79 seconds.

Coach McCown's Comments: "Several school records were set today. Congratulations to Wes. Dalon did a great job in winning the shot put with a new personal best throw. In addition to this success, we had several other personal bests and I am very proud of the determination and effort across all event areas today. Go Dogs!"
