Hart, Myers, Foster claim SCAC Track & Field honors

SEGUIN, Texas – Three Texas Lutheran Bulldogs – Tia Hart (Edna/Industrial) and Ashley Myers (Ingleside/Edna) of Women's Track & Field and Paris Foster (Magnolia/Magnolia) of Men's Track & Field – collected Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors after outstanding performances at TLU's D3 Challenge Saturday in Seguin.

Hart, a freshmam, is the SCAC Field Athlete of the Week after winning the javelin and breaking the Bulldog program record in the process.

Hart broke a school record that had stood since 1982. Hart's winning toss of 41.14 meters is currently the best in all of the SCAC and good enough for seventh in all of NCAA Division III.

Myers was a double winner last weekend at the D3 Challenge. The senior posted some of the top times in all of NCAA Division III.

Myers won the 100 meters in 12.18 seconds and currently ranks fourth in the D3 in the event. In the 200, she posted a time of 25.34 to crack the top five in D3.

Foster was outstanding last weekend in posting victories in three different events. The junior posted the fastest time to date in the SCAC by winning the 100 in 10.66.

Foster then posted the third-fastest time in the league in the 200 with a first-place time of 22.09. Foster then won the 110 hurdles, breaking the tape in 14.62 (currently the top time in the conference).

The Bulldogs' track and field squads will compete this weekend at Texas State on Friday and Saturday and at Trinity on Sunday.
