Ten top-four finishes for Bulldogs M/W Track & Field at UIW Spring Break Classic


SAN ANTONIO – Texas Lutheran Men's and Women's Track and Field stand-outs collected 10 top-four finishes last Friday and Saturday at the University of the Incarnate Word Spring Break Classic.
 
Nathaniel Howell (San Antonio/MacArthur) won the triple jump with a leap of 42 feet, 0 inches.
 
Heath McDonough (Canyon Lake/Canyon Lake), Garrett Garza (Round Rock/Stony Point), and Ryan Geiger (Shiner/St. Paul) posted second-place finishes in the high jump, shot put, and javelin, respectively.
 
McDonough cleared 6-1, and Garza tossed the shot 53-10. Geiger was the top collegiate thrower in the event with a mark of 155-9.
 
Garza also was fourth and seventh in the discus and hammer, respectively.
 
Darren Jones (Waller/Waller) finished third in the 100 (second overall collegiate runner) and fourth in the 200.
 
Ashley Myers (Ingleside/Edna) took fourth in both the 100 and the 200, and Ashley Rynard (Temple/Temple) and Kylee Garcia (Wichita Falls/Rider) were fourth in the 1,500 and 800, respectively.
 
Garcia set a new personal record in the 1,500 with a time of 4:55.72. She finished eighth in the event.
 
Baylea Herring (Three Rivers/Three Rivers) took fourth in the javelin, and Hannah Kipp (Ledbetter/Round Top-Carmine) was sixth and eight in the discus and shot put, respectively.
