Men's Tennis Stings Yellow Jackets, 8-1

SEGUIN, Texas -- After a three match losing streak to start the season, Texas Lutheran men's tennis picked up their first win of the season, defeating Howard Payne 8-1 Friday evening at TLU's Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center. 

Texas Lutheran swept in both doubles competition in what would be three competitive matches. The duos of Cashton Herrera (New Braunfels/New Braunfels)/Eric Moninger (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) and Logan Randall (Idalou/Idalou)/JT Figueroa (New Braunfels/John Paul II) won 8-5 while the team of Jackson Leslie (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) and Xavier Cristan (Corpus Christi/Flour Bluff) won in decisive 8-2 fashion.

It would not come easy but the Bulldogs would win five of six single matches on Friday with Logan Randall, Eric Moninger, and JT Figueroa winning in three sets. Jackson Leslie would win 6-4, 6-0 while Cashton Herrera would win his third consecutive singles match, 6-3, 6-3.

Up next, Texas Lutheran travels to San Antonio to take on Our Lady of the Lake at the Blossom Tennis Center on Friday, Feb. 23. First serve is set for 7 PM.
