Texas Lutheran Sweeps Sul Ross for First Win

SEGUIN, Texas -- With one week until the SCAC conference tournament, Texas Lutheran men's tennis got on the right track with a 9-0 sweep of Sul Ross State on Thursday evening at TLU's Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center for their first wins of the season.

Texas Lutheran sweeped in both doubles and singles competition. Each doubles duo - Hunter-Kemball Cook/Simon Carandang, Dristan Weaver/Aaron Salinas, Quinn Johnson/Rien Solis - would pick up their first wins as a team.

Quinn Johnson (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) picked up his fifth singles win of the season - winning his match 6-0, 6-1. Simon Carandang (Austin/Akins), Dristan Weaver (Schertz/Clemens), and Hunter-Kemball Cook (Friendswood/Clear Brook) all picked up their second singles wins of the season. Freshman Aaron Salinas (Kerrville/Tivy) picked up his first collegiate win in 6-2, 6-3 fashion.

Up next, Texas Lutheran concludes their regular season with a home match against Schreiner on Saturday, April 23. Prior to Saturday's match, Texas Lutheran will recognize its lone men's tennis senior Dristan Weaver. First serve is set for 11 AM.
