Texas Lutheran Falls on Road to No. 20 St. Thomas, 2-1

HOUSTON, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team (4-2-3) dropped their second match of the season on the road Sunday afternoon to No. 20 University of St. Thomas, 2-1. In what was a tense atmosphere that featured 31 fouls and seven yellow cards, the Celts held a 10-7 shot advantage while the Bulldogs held a 4-2 advantage in corners.

St. Thomas opened the scoring in the 28th minute of play via a goal by Dany Ramirez. The 1-0 score would hold for the remainder of the half.

A 57th minute goal from Taty Aleman doubled the Celts lead to 2-0.

The Bulldogs finally got on the board in the 64th minute as freshman Raymundo Aguirre (College Station/Brandeis) netted his first goal of the season and of his collegiate career to cut the Celts lead to 2-1 with 26 minutes to play.

Texas Lutheran would only manage one more shot in the final 26 minutes - a Gavin Edwards (Missouri City/Ridge Point) shot that would sail high in the 80th minute.

The Bulldogs will continue their four-match road trip next weekend as they travel to San Antonio to face Trinity in non-conference play. First kick is scheduled for 7 PM. All streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
