Luis Green named SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

TLU's Luis Green claims second SCAC Player of the Week honor of 2019
 
SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran sophomore forward Luis Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, Nov. 3. 
 
Green scored five goals and had an assist to lead the Bulldogs to two crucial SCAC road wins last week.
 
In the 6-1 victory at Centenary, Green notched his fourth career hat track and his third hat track of the 2019 season.
 
Against St. Thomas, Green scored both goals for TLU. He headed home the match-winner in the 84th minute.
 
Green now has 18 goals and three assists this year for a total of 39 points. That is one point more than he registered last season.
 
Green has scored 36 career goals in 36 career matches at TLU.
 
The 2018 SCAC Offensive Player of the Year and the 2018 SCAC Newcomer of the Year, Green also claimed All-America honors last season.
 
Green and the Bulldogs are the No. 2 seed in this weekend's SCAC Men's Soccer Championship. TLU faces the winner of No. Trinity and No. 6 University of Dallas in the semifinal round. The TLU semifinal match is set for a 1:30 p.m. start Saturday at Trinity University in San Antonio.
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman midfielder Ahmet Ramovic of Austin College scored three goals, including two game-winners to help lift the 'Roos into the SCAC Tournament. Ramovic's penalty kick against Trinity gave Austin College its first win over the Tigers since 1992. Senior forward Sam Bermingham of Colorado College posted a hat trick and added an assist on senior day as the Tigers secured the SCAC regular season title with a 6-0 victory over Johnson & Wales last Friday. Senior forward Hunter Haugland of Dallas scored twice and added an assist for a total of five points to help lead the Crusaders to a come from behind 3-1 victory over Schreiner last Sunday. Freshman midfielder Ashton Bynum of Southwestern scored the game-winner and assisted on another goal in the Pirates, 3-1, over Centenary to close out the regular season last Sunday. Senior defender Josh Davis of Trinity scored twice in a convincing 5-1 victory over Dallas last Friday.
