Green's first-half goal lifts Bulldogs to 1-0 SCAC road win over Dallas


IRVING, Texas -- Texas Lutheran freshmen forward Luis Green drilled a shot into the Crusaders' net at the 33:29 mark, and the Bulldogs made the goal stand up in a 1-0 road victory Friday at University of Dallas. 

On a drenched field, Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) scored his 14th goal of the season, and his fifth game-winner. He headed the shot inside the middle of box, just beating the keeper's left. 

Jared Esparza (Cibolo/Steele) and Nicolas Medina (Houston/St. Pius X) registered the assist. 

TLU moved to 9-5 overall and to 8-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. 

Dallas fell to 7-5 overall and to 6-4 in the SCAC. 

The Crusaders out shot the Bulldogs 21-10. TLU keeper Brendan Soto (Georgetown/East View) held strong in the goal making twelve saves. 

Next up, the Bulldogs continue conference play Sunday as they head to Melissa, Texas to face the Austin College Kangaroos. TLU and AC will kick off at noon at Melissa ISD Cardinal Stadium.
