Bio

H.C. Tran is in his 24th season as head coach for TLU Women's and Men's Golf. Tran is a 1990 graduate of Texas Lutheran, where he was a four-year golf letterman and key player on the Bulldogs' 1990 NAIA Men's Golf Championship national runner-up squad.

Tran has coached 11 All-Americans at TLU and led the Bulldogs to three conference championships, two American Southwest Conference Men's Golf Championships and one ASC Women's Golf Championship.

Tran has taken five different Bulldog squads (four men's and one women's) to the NCAA Division-III National Championships. The Bulldog Men made appearances in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2011. The team was 12th in 2005, 12th in 2006, seventh in 2007, and third in 2011.

The TLU Women finished 19th in their NCAA appearance in 2007.

Tran has taken four individuals to the NCAA Championships - Theresa Ashorn in 2003, Adam Peterson in 2015, Colin Uecker in 2019, and Chase Maus in 2022. Peterson finished eighth as an individual in 2015.

When TLU finished third as a men's team in 2011, All-American Ryan Kiel placed fourth overall - the highest NCAA DIII finish for a Bulldog men's golfer.

In 2007, Tran hoisted both the men's and women's golf titles from the American Southwest Conference as the Bulldogs grabbed titles on the same day.

In addition to the 11 All-Americans he has coached, Tran also coached 2006 CoSIDA Academic All-American Abby Cochran.

Tran also serves as TLU's indoor events coordinator. He can be seen at each indoor home athletic event coordinating the management of concessions and tickets.

Coach Tran's two children - Madison and Connor - are both TLU graduates. Connor played for Coach Tran at TLU and was a four-year letterman.
