TLU Men's Golf 7th, Uecker T5th at ASC Preview in Kerrville


KERRVILLE, Texas -- Colin Uecker (Kerrville/Tivy) tied for fifth place overall and led Texas Lutheran Men's Golf to a seventh-place finish at the American Southwest Conference Preview, which was contested over two rounds Monday at Comanche Trace.

Uecker moved from a tie for 18th after round one up to a tie for fifth with a two-under 70 in the second round.

TLU rebounded from a 307 in the first round to post a 299 in the second round.

Matthew McArthur (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) tied for 23rd overall after rounds of 73 and 78. Chase Maus (Manor/Manor) tied for 41st with rounds of 78 and 77.

Nathan Haley (Richmond/Foster) moved up to 47th after a 75 in the second round. Connor Tran (Canyon Lake/home school) jumped 10 spots in the second round with a 77.

Connor James (San Antonio/Johnson) improved by four shots in round two and finished 71st overall.

Concordia Texas won the team title after rounds of 289 and 288. The Tornados were followed in the standings by: Southwestern, McMurry, Hardin-Simmons, LeTourneau, University of Texas at Dallas, TLU, East Texas Baptist, Schreiner, Mary Hardin-Baylor, Howard Payne, and Louisiana College.

TLU's next tournament is the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, set for April 22-23 at Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas.
