Bulldogs' Colin Uecker wins West Region Invitational; TLU takes second
GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran senior Colin Uecker (Kerrville/Tivy) won his seventh career collegiate men's golf tournament Tuesday and led the Bulldogs to a second-place team finish at the Southwestern University West Region Invitational.
At Berry Creek Country Club, Uecker fired a final round 69 and won by five shots. Uecker won his fourth tournament of the 2018-19 season.
The Bulldogs finished second to Southwestern in the team race by a single shot.
Southwestern and TLU entered Tuesday's final round tied after a pair of rounds on Monday. The Pirates posted a 298 in the final round. TLU came home in 299.
The Pirates used Matthew Christl's 72, Cade Osgood's 74, Sutherland Stith's 75, and Thomas Kuznar's 77.
TLU used Uecker's 69, Matthew McArthur's 74, Connor Tran's 74, and Nathan Haley's 82.
McArthur (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) finished in sixth overall. Tran (Canyon Lake/home school) moved up to 15th.
Chase Maus (Manor/Manor) came home in 17th, and Nathan Haley (Richmond/Foster) tied for 30th.
The Bulldogs' next tournament is the ASC Preview, a one-day, 36-hole tournament next Monday at The Club at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas
