Texas Lutheran Men's Golf tied for lead after 2 rounds of West Region Invitational
GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's Golf is tied with host Southwestern after two rounds Monday of the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club.
Led by Chase Maus' rounds of 73 and 70, the Bulldogs posted a 293 score in the second round to erase Southwestern's eight-shot lead from the first round Monday.
TLU's 293 was the second-best team round of the day and the best score of the second round. Southwestern posted a 289 in the first round.
TLU (590) and Southwestern (590) are followed in the team standings by: Nebraska Wesleyan (600), Hardin-Simmons (606), University of Dallas (611), Belhaven (627), Howard Payne (627), Howard Payne (627), Southwestern "B" (630), and Centenary (638).
Maus, a freshman from Manor (Manor), leads by a shot over teammate Colin Uecker (Kerrville/Tivy) and Southwestern's Sutherland Stith.
Maus opened with a 73 and fired a 2-under par 70 in the second round. Uecker carded a pair of 72s.
Bulldog Matthew McArthur (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) is in a tie for 12th after a 76 and a 74, and Connor Tran (Canyon Lake/ home school) is in a tie for 17th after a 76 and a 78. Nathan Haley (Richmond/Foster) posted scored of 79 and 77 and is in a tie for 21st.
The West Region Invitational concludes Tuesday with a final 18 holes at Berry Creek.
