Chase Maus named SCAC Men's Golfer of the Week
SEGUIN, Texas – Texas Lutheran freshman Chase Maus (Manor/Manor) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for competition played from Wednesday, March 20 through Tuesday, March 26.
Maus led the Bulldogs to a second-place team finish at the University of Texas at Dallas' Texas Cup event, which was contested at The Courses at Watters Creek.
After Sunday's final round was cancelled due to inclement weather, Maus' first-round 71 was good enough for a tie atop the individual leaderboard. Maus was awarded second place after a tiebreaker was applied.
Maus was named to the Texas Cup all-tournament team.
The Bulldogs have claimed four SCAC Men's Golfer of the Week this year with Colin Uecker collecting three and Maus grabbing one.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Emilio Montalvo of Dallas moved up seven spots on the final day, carding a 75 on the round for a total score of 228 (76, 77, 75) to finish tied for 22nd in leading the Crusaders to an eighth-place team finish at the University of La Verne West Cup. His 35 pars were tied for second-best in the field. Sophomore Dawson Dally of Trinity shot a 4-over-par 76 in Tuesday's round for a three-day total of 232 and a tie for 36th place at the West Cup. Dally rose four positions from Monday's opening two rounds. He also tied for fourth in the tournament with nine birdies on his card. Junior Alex Fernandez of Johnson & Wales shot a second-round 76 on Sunday to finish tied for 28th to lead the Wildcats' men's team at the Bob Writz Invitational.
