Bulldogs Take Down Trinity, 69-67

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Jamir Mason (Pearland/St. Thomas Episcopal) scored 18 points and Isaac Orozco (Helotes/O'Connor) added 14 as Texas Lutheran held on to stun Trinity 69-67 on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs ended the Tigers 7-game win streak and handed them their first home conference loss of the season.

Sebastian Andrade (El Paso/Americas) scored the Bulldogs final six points down the stretch. Andrade would sink two free throws to reduce the Tigers lead to 66-65 and would make a decisive three with 1:35 remaining to give the Bulldogs a 68-67 lead. Andrade would make one more free throw to extend the Bulldogs lead to the final tally of 69-67 with 40 seconds remaining in the game. Trinity had multiple chances to win the game in the closing seconds but the Bulldogs defense stepped up to seal the game.

Xavier Phillips (Austin/Dripping Springs) added 13 points and Sebastian Andrade would finish with 10 points, including six in the final three minutes, along with a team-high seven assists for the Bulldogs (7-13, 5-7 SCAC) who move into a three-way tie for fourth place in the SCAC with four games remaining in the regular season.

The Bulldogs  will have a short turnaround as they head to Irving, Texas, to face the University of Dallas Crusaders on Friday in the final game of a five road games in eleven days stretch. Tip-off is currently set for 5:30 PM. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
