Men's Basketball Tops McMurry 99-80

SEGUIN, TX -- Sophomore Gerrit Twitero (McQueeney/Seguin) posted a career-high 22 points, and senior Jamir Mason (Pearland/St. Thomas Episcopal) added 21 points to pace Texas Lutheran to a 99-80 home victory over McMurry Saturday evening at Memorial Gymnasium.

Twitero converted 6-of-8 field goals, including 3-of-5 from deep, in 32 minutes, while Mason hit 8-of-19 field goals and grabbing 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Senior guard Sebastian Andrade (El Paso/Americas High) tallied 15 points on 7-of-17 shooting in 29 minutes, and sophomore Garrett Prince (San Antonio/MacArthur) added 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting to go along with 6 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Freshman Isaac Orozco (Helotes/O'Connor) registered a team-best 9 assists and 4 steals in addition to his 8 points.

Texas Lutheran converted 46.1% (35-76) from the floor and was 75% (21-28) from the free throw line. The Bulldogs held the War Hawks to 80 points on 39.2% field goal percentage, including a 6-21 (28.6%) performance from three-point range.

Looking to rebound from Friday evening's loss, Texas Lutheran took their frustration out on the War Hawks starting the game on a 9-0 run. Leading the War Hawks by as much as 21, the Bulldogs would not look back from this early advantage leading the game wire to wire for a win on the backend of a two-game home stand.

Texas Lutheran will head to Corpus Christi to face former Bulldog Steve Lutz and the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders in an exhibition on Tuesday at 7 PM, before returning to their regular season slate on Friday when they face LeTourneau in the LeTourneau Classic on Friday at 7 PM.
