SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Bulldogs won their first game of the season when they defeated Austin College , 41-7, Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium.
Quarterback Seth Cosme (Angleton/Angleton) threw for 187 yards and three touchdowns going 7-for-11 passing.
Junior wide receiver Trent Stefka (Caldwell/Caldwell) led all receivers with 86 yards on two catches, while Keon Torello (St. Louis, MO/Austin Crockett (TX))added 46 yards on one catch. DaKory Willis (Flatonia/Flatonia) led all rushers with 113 yards on 13 carries. Sophomore running back Jacob Forton (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) rushed for 101 yards on 15 carries - finding the end zone twice as the TLU rushing attack that led the American Southwest Conference a season ago reared its head in Seguin.
Cornerback Robert Ramirez III (Brownsville/Los Fresnos) led the Bulldogs with seven tackles including four solo stops. Linebacker David Augustin (Missouri City/Willowridge) snagged an interception - the first of his college career - while defensive linemen Christian Monroe (College Station/College Station) and Colten Matus (Nursery/Victoria West) both recorded sacks.
Senior All-American kicker Juan Ocampo (Lockhart/Lockhart) had two successful field goal attempts with a long of 32 yards while tacking on five extra points.
The Bulldogs (1-1, 1-1) renew their rivalry with the Trinity Tigers (1-0, 0-1) for the first time since 2016 next week at 1PM at Bulldog Stadium.
