TLU Baseball Drops Series Finale to St. Thomas

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Baseball dropped the series finale to St. Thomas, 5-1, and were swept by the Celts on Friday at Katt-Isbel Field.

The Bulldogs (11-9, 0-3 SCAC) will continue their 13-game homestand next Saturday against Dallas. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM. All games will be streamed on TLU's YouTube Channel, TLU+. All streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.

Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls) went 1-for-3 with an RBI single. Xavier Arias (La Vernia/Nixon-Smiley) went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

St. Thomas got on the board first with a run in the second, fourth, and sixth innings to take a gradual 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs.

Texas Lutheran would be no-hit through 6.1 innings until Arias broke up the Celts no-hit bid with a one-out double in the seventh inning. Bourgeois would drive in Arias with an RBI single to trim the lead to 3-1.

The Celts got the run back in the top of the eighth with a solo home run.

St. Thomas added to its lead in the top of the ninth, taking advantage of a passed ball and a TLU throwing error to score the final run of the game and bringing the game to its final score of 5-1.

Diego Vinton (Richmond/George Ranch) started and pitched eight innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits. The loss dropped him to 1-4 on the season.
