Baseball Falls in Series Opener to UT-Dallas

RICHARDSON, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Baseball dropped the first of three games to UT-Dallas Friday afternoon, 15-5, in seven innings at UTD Baseball Field.

The Bulldogs will face the Comets at 3 PM on Friday for the second game of their doubleheader and the second game of their three game series.

The game was decided relatively early as the Comets combined for 13 runs over the course of the first three innings - including a six run second inning.

Texas Lutheran got on the board first with one run in the top of the first coming via an RBI groundout from Tyler Post (San Antonio/Johnson). The Bulldogs added another run in the third inning as an Adam Peavy (Houston/Memorial) sacrifice fly made it 9-2.

UT-Dallas tacked on four runs in the third and one in the fourth inning to make it 14-2.

Xavier Arias (La Vernia/Nixon-Smiley) drove in Peavy on a fielder's choice to bring the score to 14-3 in the top of the sixth before the Comets would tack on another run in the bottom of the inning.

A bases loaded walk to Aric Vasquez (San Antonio/Brandeis) and a Carson Draehn (Brenham/Brenham) sacrifice fly pushed across the Bulldogs final two runs of the afternoon in the seventh inning.
