Texas Lutheran's Tyler Cauley named SCAC Baseball's Elite 19 award winner
CLEBURNE, Texas -- In an announcement made Friday afternoon at the conference tournament, Texas Lutheran University's Tyler Cauley was named the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Elite 19 award winner.
Cauley, a senior from Baytown, Texas, currently holds a 3.595 GPA in accounting. He was named SCAC Player of the Year and was an All-SCAC First Team selection on this year's all-conference baseball team.
Cauley graduated from Texas Lutheran on Saturday with his master's degree in accountancy and a bachelor's degree in business administration.
The SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA, at least 60 credit hours and earns All-SCAC honors for that particular season.
A student-athlete will be honored annually from each of the league's 19 conference-sponsored sports and will be recognized at the site of that year's conference championship event.
Cauley is the second TLU Bulldog to take home the SCAC Elite 19 honor in baseball. Current teammate, fellow outfielder, and fellow TLU graduate Cullen Motsinger won the inaugural award back in 2019.
Texas Lutheran advances to the championship round of the SCAC Baseball Championship with a 12-10 win Saturday over No. 2-ranked Trinity. The Bulldogs defeated Southwestern 7-5 on the first day of the tournament (Friday).
