Matthew Hickey named SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran sophomore left-hander Matthew Hickey (Spring/Klein Collins) has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, Feb. 24 through Sunday, March 1.
Hickey pitched six shutout innings in a 2-1 victory over Pacific Lutheran on Thursday. Hickey struck out six and walked three in the win. He scattered five hits.
Hickey improved to 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA. He has struck out 19 batters in 16 innings.
The Bulldogs (6-4) return to action this Saturday and Sunday with home games against New Jersey City.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior Try Schwarz of Southwestern pitched three scoreless innings in the Pirates' loss to Adrian. Schwarz struck out five while surrendering just one walk and one hit.
