GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- George Fox (Ore.) rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth to post a 4-3 victory Saturday over the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs.
At AirHogs Stadium, George Fox scored the winning run on a bases-loaded walk.
The Bruins tallied three hits in their final at-bat and took advantage of a hit-by-pitch and the late walk.
The Bruins improved to 2-0. TLU fell to 1-1. George Fox and TLU play their final game of the Rusty Greer / Jackie Moore Classic on Sunday. The Bulldogs have a 10 a.m. contest with Methodist (N.C.).
Against George Fox, TLU senior right-hander Landon Weatherly pitched seven strong innings. He allowed just one earned run and scattered seven hits. He did not walk a batter.
Senior second baseman Austin Colon had two hits and an RBI, and senior third baseman Nick Gardoni went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
The top four batters in the George Fox lineup were a combined 6-for-15. George Fox out-hit TLU 11-8.
The Bulldogs fell behind 1-0 in the fourth but battled back to take the 3-1 lead with a run in the sixth, a run in the seventh and a run in the ninth.
