TLU's Cullen Motsinger named SCAC Baseball's Elite 19 award winner


CLEBURNE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran redshirt sophomore Cullen Motsinger (Houston/Cypress Ranch) has been named the inaugural winner of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's Baseball Elite 19 award.

Motsinger, TLU's starting center fielder, currently holds a 3.789 GPA and was an All-SCAC Second Team selection on this year's all-conference baseball team.

A member of the 2018 NCAA Division III national runner-up team, Motsinger is an accounting major, and he is pursuing his bachelor's degree and master's degree in accountancy.

As an every day starter in center field for the 2019 Bulldogs, Motsinger is third on the team in batting average (.333). He has started and played in 40 games, and he has scored 36 runs.

Motsinger has walked 34 times, doubled eight times, and he has four triples and a home run.

The SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA, at least 60 credit hours and earns All-SCAC honors for that particular season. A student-athlete will be honored annually from each of the league's 19 conference-sponsored sports and will be recognized at the site at that year's conference championship event.

This is the inaugural year of the SCAC Elite 19 award.
