Bio

The 2019-20 TLU Athletics year will be the 22nd at Texas Lutheran for Tim Clark as the university's sports information and sports marketing director. Prior to becoming TLU's first full-time SID in June 1998, Clark spent 3-1/2 years in the newspaper business in Carlsbad, N.M. Clark is a 1994 graduate of TLU.

The TLU Sports Information Staff was voted by its peers as the inaugural winner of the American Southwest Conference Sports Information Department of the Year award for the 2008-09 academic season. TLU was honored on Aug. 4, 2009 during the annual ASC SID meeting in Dallas.

Clark shared the 2009 award with then TLU Assistant Director of Sports Information Patrick Zarate (who also served TLU as the head coach for women's cross country and women's track and field).

Clark works with all of TLU’s 18 sports, assisting in game-day operations and management of press boxes at all home sporting events. Clark also handles the TLU Athletics website (tlubulldogs.com), coordinates the production of the university’s media guides, produces the athletics department's gameday webstreams, manages the university's official social media sites, and produces all game programs.

Clark and former assistant sports information director Zach Bond led TLU to a convincing win in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's SCAC Trending competition in 2014.

Texas Lutheran finished the year with 6,183 total points, nearly double second-place Colorado College, which garnered 3,153 total points.

The contest, which was created in 2014 to help build social media interaction within all SCAC schools, awarded points each time an institution's unique hashtag was used in either Twitter or Instagram.

For Texas Lutheran, any time a social media user included #TLUBulldogs in a Twitter or Instagram post, TLU garnered points. One point was awarded for every time the school's designated hashtag was used in a tweet and two points each time a it was used in an Instagram picture taken at a school-sponsored sporting event.

The results were tracked weekly, with the Bulldogs claiming the top spot in 19 of 22 weeks. Once, the Bulldogs tied for first, while twice they finished second.

Thanks to the commitment of the Bulldog fan base, TLU nearly doubled its Instagram (@tlubulldogs) followers during the year, growing from 774 followers to 1,496. The story was much the same for Twitter (@tluathletics), as TLU saw a nearly 40 percent growth in Twitter followers, from 1,634 at the start of the year to 2,258 at the end.

TLU social media reach continues to be strong. As of October of 2018, TLU ranked eighth overall nationally among all NCAA Division III colleges and universities in the D3 Social Media Index, which ranked schools baess on total likes/followers per enrollment over the major social networks (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter).

Clark and Joey Dearing, TLU's current assistant director for sports information and sports marketing, directed social media and media campaigns as the Bulldogs won the 2019 NCAA Division III Softball National Championship. Dearing and Clark also worked closely together as the Bulldogs hosted the 2019 NCAA Division III Baseball Regional Championship in Seguin, Texas.

In 2018, Clark and former assistant SID and sports marketing director Sami Springfield produced broadcasts, social media and media campaigns for TLU Baseball as it advanced to the NCAA Division III Baseball World Series and finished as the national runner-up.

Bond and Clark worked together to host and manage the inaugural games at TLU's new Bulldog Stadium and new softball facility, Ed Kruse Stadium at Morck Softball Field. Bond and Clark hosted the 2014 SCAC Softball Championship at Ed Kruse Stadium and worked TLU's 2014 playoff game in Belton, Texas in the NCAA Division III Football Championship.

Clark and former assistant Zarate teamed together to handle the media and event-management duties for the ASC Cross Country Championships, the ASC Women's Volleyball Championships, the ASC Baseball Championships, and the NCAA Division III Cross Country South/Southeast Regional Championships.

Clark served as the chair of the ASC Sports Information Directors for the 2005-06 academic year.

In 2009, Clark worked as a broadcaster and color commentator for the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships (national semifinal matches). In 2010, Clark was the color commentator for the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Soccer Championships (all four national semifinal matches).

Clark, Zarate and Jason Cade were awarded with the 2005 Division C Football Media Guide "Best Cover" award as presented by the The College Sports Information Directors of America.

Clark has been named the TLU Staff Person of the Year Award twice, once by the TLU Alumni Association and once by the TLU Student Government Association.

Clark and TLU Director of Athletics Bill Miller were session presenters during the 2009 CoSIDA National Convention in San Antonio.

Clark and his wife Rebecca, a TLU lecturer in mathematics, have two adult daughters: Madison and Maya.
