Jim Shuler recorded nearly 200 more victories than any other Bulldog men’s basketball coach, and he guided the Bulldogs to 15 of the 22 winning seasons since 1948-1949. With Shuler’s two coaching stints – from 1972 to 1977 and 1986 to 2000 – he compiled a 298-226 record. His overall coaching record was 519-377. He coached TLU to the 1995-96 and 1997-98 HOTC Co-Championships, and was three times honored as the HOTC Coach of the Year. Seven NAIA All-Americans played for Shuler at TLU and two players, Gerald Reiner and Steve Porter, have their jerseys retired.
