Texas Lutheran Volleyball, Women's Cross Country Earn SCAC Team Sportsmanship Awards

SUWANEE, GA -- Five Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference fall sports programs were recognized by the league as recipients of the SCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Team Sportsmanship award in balloting conducted following each sport's respective season. In that balloting, Texas Lutheran volleyball and women's cross country took home Team Sportsmanship honors for the Fall 2023 season.

The SCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee instituted the award prior to the 2016-17 academic year to honor the team that best portrays good sportsmanship and fair play from the players and coaches during the season. The fall awards are presented in men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and volleyball.

The honor is the first in program history for TLU women's cross country.

And in the sport of volleyball, Texas Lutheran University received top honors for the second-straight year. The Bulldogs are the first program to win back-to-back accolades in volleyball since Centenary accomplished the feat in 2017 and 2018. Trinity took home second and Colorado College was slated third.

Men's Cross Country: Colorado College
Women's Cross Country: Texas Lutheran University
Men's Soccer: Colorado College
Women's Soccer: Southwestern University
Volleyball: Texas Lutheran University

The awards were voted on by each member institution's SAAC, with each individual group ranking the top three teams in each sport. First-place selections were awarded five points, second place earned three points and third place earned one point. Points were then totaled to select the conference's overall winner.
