Trio of Bulldogs Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

 SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran All-American relay sprinters Weston Guzman (McAllen/McAllen) and Elijah Jefferson (San Antonio/Construction Careers Academy) as well as SCAC discus champion Brianna Wilson (Austin/Cotulla) have been named All-Academic Athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their accolades in the classroom and on the track during the 2023 campaign, the USTFCCCA announced on Thursday afternoon.

To be eligible for this honor, you had to have a cumulative 3.30 GPA. You also had to have finished in the top-50 of individual events or top-35 of relay events during the indoor or outdoor season.

Guzman, who maintained a 3.6 GPA as a freshman, and Jefferson, who touts a 3.32 GPA, qualified after earning All-American status in the 4x100m relay this spring. Wilson, who sports a 3.89 GPA after her freshman year, qualified for her performance in the discus throw.
